Science Experiment-Build an Air Engine

Construct a working model of an air engine.

This activity will allow students to build and demonstrate a source of thrust found in some research aircraft: the rocket engine. The straw represents the fuselage and the balloon represents the aircraft engine.

You will need scotch tape, straw, balloon, and string.

Place string through the straw.

 

 

 

Inflate the balloon.

 

Tie one end of string to doorknob or chair and have someone else hold other end of string.
