Family Bike Ride

Enjoy a family bike ride along Pittman Wash Trail. Meet at Pecos Legacy Park. Registration  is required (activity code 644017-58). Ages 6+; $7

The City of Henderson, in partnership with the Outside Las Vegas Foundation, is hosting the fourth annual Get Outdoors Nevada Day. The family-friendly event highlights Southern Nevada’s many outdoor recreation opportunities. All ages; Free.

Heritage Harvest Festival

October 7, 11am-2pm
Heritage Park Senior Facility, 300 S. Racetrack Rd.
Our family-friendly festival features a craft fair; children’s activities such as a petting zoo, bounce houses and face painting; and games for all generations. The festival also incorporates a variety of senior health informational booths and screenings. Free refreshments include popcorn and cotton candy. Additional food items are available for purchase. The festival includes a performance by Mama’s Wranglers from 11am to 12:30pm and entertainment by Dance Zone and the Basic High School Robotics Club. Admission is free for all ages.

Pumpkin Patch & Pool Party

October 7, 2:30pm-7pm
Heritage Park Aquatic Complex, 310 S. Racetrack Rd.
Our family-friendly pool party includes bounce houses and slides, music, Halloween-themed movie on the giant inflatable screen, and swimming. A pumpkin dive takes place at 3:30 p.m. where children dive for a pumpkin to paint in our classroom. It’s $3 per person. Register online (activity code 436000) or at any indoor pool/recreation center. Registration is also available during Heritage Harvest Festival, which takes place from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. the same day at Heritage Park Senior Facility.

Fall Hiking Series – Visit the Sloan Canyon Petroglyphs (5 miles)

October 14, 8:30am-12:30pm
Sloan Canyon Contact Station, Nawghaw Poa Rd, Henderson

This moderate hike starts at Sloan Canyon Contact Station and covers approximately 5 miles on the 100 and 200 trails. The hike takes place along a sandy wash and rocky terrain with switchbacks, but does not involve any climbing. The park ranger will talk about human history in the Las Vegas Valley and share what information is known about the more than 1,700 petroglyphs in Sloan Canyon. Dogs are not allowed. Wear closed-toe shoes and bring 2 liters or 64 ounces of water, a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, and a snack. Register using activity code 644071-59. Ages 14+; Free

Fall Hiking Series – Saguaro Trail (2 miles)

How To Be a Good Digital Parent

Today our children have an incredible opportunity to learn, create and communicate through the use of technology. It is important that parents are confident in their understanding of digital devices, apps, games, and their ability to help guide their children at every age to ensure a positive experience online. To help parents, the City of Henderson is hosting How to Be a Good Digital Parent, a workshop includes presentations and tips from the city’s Department of Information Technology and Henderson Police Department. Topics include parental controls; social media content, contact and conduct; digital footprints; managing kids’ online gaming; and setting ground rules. All ages; free

Wildhorse Golf Club goes dark for a night of glow-in-the-dark golf. Family-friendly activities include glow-in-the dark balls on the putting green, night lighted driving range, disc golf demonstrations, bounce house and games. Pumpkin Picassos

Paint your own pumpkin masterpiece. Painting is a safer and less messy alternative to carving pumpkins. We share interesting techniques and provide paints and craft supplies. Snacks are provided. Picnic in the Park – Pony Rides & Apple Cider
