Young Foodies

For their health lesson today, my kids had to choose a healthy recipe to make for dinner.  Their choice?  Grilled chicken breasts with a garden salad.  It is very easy to make and my 2nd and 5th grader were happy to start off with pounding the meat…LOL!


While they were busy tenderizing their chickens, I went ahead and set up my indoor grill.  (I love that thing!)

Next, they seasoned the meat on one side.  I suggested a simple flavoring of salt & pepper and Italian seasoning.


Then, I placed the chicken breasts on the pre-heated indoor grill, seasoned side down, and sprinkled same seasonings on top of chicken breasts, grilling for about 10 minutes on each side.

One thing I like about this indoor grill is that the sides do not get hot, but still I made sure my daughter was careful to flip the chicken over.1130171742a.jpg


While the chicken was cooking I set out the salad ingredients and helped cut the veggies…lettuce, carrots, green pepper, and roma tomatoes.
